Hey Squirrel, great to see you checking out (The Goodies), I never missed an episode just like (Monty Python). Tim Brooke Taylor (in The U.K. waistcoat) was involved in the original performance of the (M.P.) famous 4 Yorkshiremen sketch. As he was part of the cast/writers of John Cleese & Graham Chapman`s earlier show in 1967, called (At Last the 1948 Show), where it was originally performed. Their Intro will give you a better idea of what their show was about. The Goodies, 1/2 hour shows with a complete story. Very few clips on their own will make much sense, it has to be a full show to get all the context. Pretty much a cheaper kiddie friendly version of Monty Python

That took me right back to childhood. I remember thinking that it was a real giant kitten because I had seen Michael Aspel read the news before, so it had to be true.

Rumour has it that in the first series the actors had to pretend the till would snap shut by pushing it themselves, but in the later series they cut a hole in the set behind the till and a stage hand would forcefully pull the till shut at the right moment.

I loved 'The Goodies' when I was a kid. It was unique, a sitcom with sketches, using green screen, mechanical effects, and animation. It was unlike any traditional genre. The Goodies took on a new 'project' each episode. They were very creative. It was aired before 9pm, so most kids watched it (unlike Monty Python which, IIRC, was much later). Graeme Garden is still creating comedy in the radio series "I'm sorry I haven't a clue", and he co-created the radio series "The Unbelievable Truth" chaired by David Mitchell, with occasional appearances by Graeme. The Goodies - available on DVD, of which I have a couple of sets. 30 minute episodes highly recommended and a lot of fun Kitten Kong: Montreux '72 Edition", and was first broadcast in 1972. It won the Silver Rose at the 1972 Rose d'Or Festival, held in Montreux, Switzerland. The Rose d'Or is an international awards festival in entertainment broadcasting and programming.

Over 1000 years of history, nobody does it like us Brits. She is my one and only Queen and always will be and I am pleased that she was my Queen for my whole life. She like us all had her quirks but she totally loved us all and kept her pledge to our nation from the moment she was crowned until the day she passed away.

The Goodies, along with Doctor Who, Top Of The Pops and (possibly) Grange Hill, told the 1970s what shape to be. They literally defined an era. One favourite of mine, which I tend to return to when I want my Goodies fix, is the xmas 1977 episode _Earthanasia._ It's a work of art. Bits of it, chopped up and completely arbitrarily arranged, appeared in The Conjuring 2.

My favourite episode is Lighthouse Keeping Loonies. Following America's success at putting a man on The Moon, Britain accidentally launches a lighthouse into space ! Go figure !! The scene with Tim in the bath, as Graeme and Bill try to overturn the lighthouse and bring it back to Earth, is so brilliant. Note the row of yellow rubber ducks on the shelf sliding back and forth. Look for Ecky Thump, you couldn't get away with this kind of comedy anymore.

One RUclips reactioner referred to that scene as a pussy falling on an erection. On RUclips there is a documentary how Kitten Kong was made. Including Tim taking a turd up the nose during a stop frame filming as he is dragged along the ground by the kitten. During filming, a dog came and made a deposit, and the director said, we can stop filming but it will take an extra two hours, so Tim took a turd up the nose.

Kitten Kong was awarded silver at the Rose Festival Film Awards. Part slapstick, part live action cartoon, I don't think they were ever beaten for visual humour. They were contemporary with Monty Python and had worked with John Cleese. Officially asked by the BBC and others to turn down their non stop humour after a viewer literally died from laughing to Kung Fu Capers (or hitting people over the head with black puddings). RUclips has the Can Laughing Be Bad For You, to watch. RUclips also had an extract from Saturday Night Grease where Tim Brooke-Taylor (the blond Goodie) tries to squeeze into a pair of tight jeans. A mission he succeeds in, but they are so tight, he is unable to speak unless it is in a very high pitched girls voice. Tim solves the problem of chatting up women in a high pitched girls voice by undoing his flies. This causes them to scream. You think you have problems ! Either speak like a girl or walk with your flies undone. Choices, choices ! This is one rabbit hole, you will enjoy falling into.

Bill Oddie (beard) and Tim Brooke-Tailor (grey suit) were collaborators with some of Monty Python in At Last the 1948 Show. Cleese, Chapman, Oddie, TBT and also Marty Feldman. 11 of the 13 shows still exist (many discovered very recently) and the show contains the original 4 Yorkshiremen sketch, which was later done on Python TV show and at live shows. There are come other clips too. Ronnie Corbett also made a guest appearance.

The Goodies was a comedy show of 9 seasons of half hour episodes. Starting in 1970. Each episode was usually one story concerning the same 3 characters. It is infamous for being the best comedy series, that the BBC never repeated for decades.

I'm in my 60s so watched this as a kid and would have to say the series has not aged well. I would recommend one parody episode though that was written around the craze of the TV series 'Kung Fu' that starred David Carradine at that time. The Goodies episode is based around the Lancashire fictional martial art known as 'Ecky Thump' and a true fact is one viewer died from laughter when watching this particular episode.
